History
The Atomic Falls wasteland event is held on the park grounds of the old Dogpatch USA theme park. The location is unique in appearance and history. At one point in the 1950s, Dogpatch and the Li'l Abner comic characters were more famous than Disneyland.

Geography
The Dogpatch USA theme park was located in the township of Marble Falls, AR, just a short drive from Harrison, AR. The old park grounds are located in a shallow valley that runs primarily North/South. The area has a natural bluff, with a large spring that feeds a small river running the length of the valley, a man-made lake with a stone dam, and an old railway that was used to provide transportation and tours of the park.

Climate
Northern Arkansas, in May, has pleasant daytime temperatures, and tends to be cooler in the evening. Arkansas weather can be unpredictable, so pack accordingly, and plan to dress in layers so you can add or remove as needed.

Wildlife
The event space is in the Ozark Mountain region of North Central Arkansas. This area is well known for their beauty and diverse wildlife species. Of these, the most prevalent are red squirrels, gray squirrels, skunks, raccoons, and white tail deer. Black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, and various species of venomous and non-venomous reptiles and insects are also found in these areas.

Most of these creatures will shy away from the rowdy behavior, lights, and sounds of the general camp and event areas. However, it is important to note that food stores and trash should be well secured against nocturnal scavengers (raccoons are well known for invading camp stores).

Amenities
Nearly all of the original park buildings remain. Guests of the event will be able to explore many of them. Additionally, some event activities will be held inside some of these buildings. Some of these buildings have stages for performances.

There are paved roads, parking, flat grassy locations for tent camping, flat paved areas for RV or camper parking, and plenty of great locations for tribe camps.

The event area does not have running water, but there will be porta-potties provided in multiple locations throughout the area. Make sure to pack in plenty of water for drinking and washing.

To be certain that you are prepared adequately, plan for pack-in/pack-out, leave no trace primitive camping.
